Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year. Spence worked with the kids to get a good "Trick or Treat" all month, Davis and Blair read lots of Halloween books thanks to Grandma Davis, and I got some costumes put together. It all paid off last night.

The kids absolutely loved Halloween. We took them Trick or Treating at a few houses and then hung out at home answering the door for the other kids. While we were out, Davis was happy to go to the door and say "Trick or Treat", but Blair got a little nervous and wouldn't say it to anyone. When we were home and the doorbell would ring, Davis would jump up and down and say "Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat" and grab our bowl of candy to give to the other kids. He would then tell everyone that he and Blair were Mickey and Minnie and say bye a million times as they left. Both kids enjoyed eating way too much candy and were a sticky gooey mess all night. We put down a blanket in the front room because they drooled candy down the front of themselves and onto the floor all night.

Grandma and Grandpa Davis came over to see the kids for a little while and we had a great visit. When it was time for bed, both kids were so wired that they stayed awake in their beds for an hour after we put them down. At bedtime, Spence and I went next door and hung out with some of our neighbors and had a ton of fun. What a great night!

This morning, the kids had forgotton all about the candy, but Blair hadn't forgotton about her Minnie shoes. She was so sure that she was going to wear the red light up high heels to church. I'm pretty sure they'll be her favorite dress up for a while...

Ward Party

Our ward had a Halloween party Friday night. We had a great time visiting our neighbors and teaching Davis and Blair all about Trunk or Treating. The kids had a great time up until the huge meltdown by Blair due to the fact that she hadn't slept a second during nap time because she was too busy talking to herself about the parties we were going to at Dad's work and church.

JD Clark Halloween Party

Every year JD Clark has a family Halloween party. This year was so much fun with the kids. They were finally old enough to have a good time. They loved the fishing pond and the cake walk and, of course, the treats. It was fun to see everyone else and all the fun costumes. Everyone at JDC dresses up. This year, due to his lack of preparation, Spence was a fly fisherman because he already had all the stuff in his car. Next year, maybe we'll put a little more thought into a better costume...

Carving Pumpkins

Monday night for Family Home Evening, we carved our pumpkins. The kids thought it was pretty great, but weren't really into touching the "Pumpkin guts". Dad was super appreciative of his awesome helpers and the pumpkins were so great they could win any contest. :) After the pumpkins were carved we went to go get a treat and some lights for the pumpkins, but Blair fell asleep in the car so Dad and Davis shared a shake while Mom ran in to Wal-Mart for a few candles.

More Pictures

Just some cute new pictures of the kids...

Potty Trained!

Blair is officially potty trained! I am beyond thrilled. It wasn't long ago that I thought potty training her was the biggest mistake I had made in a long time, but we're over the hump and she's going potty like a pro.

She loved going potty at first and did so great, but the fun wore off. When we went to Lake Mead she did awesome and I thought we had turned the corner, but when we got home, she peed in her pants a couple of times a day.

One night, I asked her if she wanted to wear diapers like a baby and she promptly responded "YES! Diaper." Not the response I expected. When I told her that was gross and for babies she said, "Davis does it." I had no good explanation for that one.

The next day, in a moment of desperation, I took her to Wal-Mart and let her pick out some high heeled dress up shoes. While we were driving and shopping, I told her that she only got them after she kept her underpants dry for a whole day and after that if she had any accidents, she had to give them to me for a while. She was super excited about the shoes, but when we got home, she put them on the table to wait until she stayed dry. She told Dad all about them when he got home and admired them a few times that day, and was so happy to see them on the table.

Since getting the shoes, she had one accident and gave the shoes to me until the next morning. That was a week ago and now she doesn't have accidents and she always goes potty without being reminded or asked.

I am thrilled, too bad I have another kid to tackle...

These fancy shoes are a must from sun up to sun down. That was the best $4 I have ever spent!

Blair's First Haircut

Last Sunday while we were visiting Grandma and Grandpa Erickson, Blair got her first haircut. She just got the ends trimmed, but I still think it makes her look older. Blair was pretty excited to finally be sitting in Grandma's special chair because Davis gets to do it all the time. In fact, about a month ago, we were going downstairs and Blair said, "I need a haircut Mom." I was surprised because we hadn't talked about anyone getting their hair cut for a while, but then when I questioned her about it she said, "I need a haircut, Mom. Call Grandma." She knows the drill...

Here are a couple of pictures I took the next day. The other are yet to come because they're on Grandma's camera as I didn't have mine. I love the fact that she has so much hair and she isn't even two years old! Thanks for the haircut Grandma, we love it.

Ready for Halloween

Two cute kids ready for Halloween...

Lazy Day

Last week, Davis had a cold and it was freezing outside so we spent Tuesday being lazy and hanging out inside. Blair decided her baby needed some different clothes, so she shared hers. Davis collected all of his toys in his Tonka truck and kept them away from Blair. Anything that he wants or anything that is just his (mostly race cars and dinosaurs which are his new favorite things) gets stored in the back of the dump truck not to be touched by the girl...
