Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Davis' house. We had a great time and enjoyed visiting with Sue, Adam and Angie, Breezy and Matt, Grandma and Grandpa, and Uncle Austin.

Christmas Day we spent at our house. In the afternoon, after talking to Morgan, Grandpa and Grandma Davis and Austin came over. We loved being at our house for Christmas and will continue this tradition in the future. Spence and I woke up before the kids and I got my present, a great camera, and used it the rest of the day. We had breakfast when the kids woke up and finally got around to opening our presents at about 9:30am. The presents didn't take long, but we had fun. The kids started to learn to unwrap presents. After opening presents, we just hung out and the kids played with their toys. They enjoyed the relaxed day playing in their pajamas all day.

The day after Christmas, we drove to Cache Valley to visit the rest of our families. We had Olsen family pictures the afternoon of the 26th and then we went to see Grandma and Grandpa Erickson, Miranda, and Kayla. We had fun playing with them and it was even better because Chris and Jamie were visiting too. We stayed over that night and had fun playing games.

On the 27th, we went to visit Grandpa and Grandma Olsen and Donnell. We had lunch and enjoyed a great visit.

Here are some pictures from our Christmas fun.

Christmas Eve
During Christmas Eve dinner, Blair was a little cranky and wasn't too interested in eating. After deciding we wouldn't force her to eat what she didn't want to on Christmas Eve, we looked over to see her sleeping in the high chair. She has never fallen asleep there before, but we had a big day and the naps were short. We leaned back her chair and she slept there for about forty-five minutes.

The Kerrybrook Ward (the ward for which Spence is the high council rep) had their whole ward light these luminaries on Christmas Eve. We don't live close to their ward, but we put ours out too. We drove through the Kerrybrook Ward that night and it looked pretty cool with the luminaries out at every house.

Little People things are some of the kids favorite toys right now. They got a bunch for their birthday and we gave them a house and Noah's Ark for Christmas. There are Little People everywhere at the end of each day.

They love the wagon. Christmas night Davis played in it for about forty-five minutes straight. It is still in our house now and they love getting pulled around in it. They'll have a great time when it's warm outside and we can really use it.

This was right before bedtime and he was so happy snuggled up to her. When I picked him up he cried so hard; he didn't want to move. Miranda is a wonderful aunt and the kids love being with her.

Thanks to all of our family for everything. We are truely blessed to have you in our lives.

Santa

Santa made a special appearance at the ward party this year and Blair loved it. When Santa came in, all the kids lined up to see him and Blair tried time and time again to walk up to see him before her turn. It surprised me because she is usually reluctant to go to people she doesn't know. Davis didn't really care about Santa at all.

Davis

Davis loves to read books. His new favorite place to read is on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. That way, more books are close by when he finishes the one he's reading.

At the first of December, Davis fell out of the back of his Tonka dump truck. He loves to get in and out of the back and sometimes Blair will give him a push. This is a picture of the wound. That night we took him to the ward party and he was bruised and scratched and he had a bruise on his forehead. Everyone made a comment about it, so Spence taught him to shake his head no when Spence asked "Davis, did it hurt?" It was pretty funny.

Bath Time

The babies love bath time! I just thought this video was cute. There's nothing better than splashing.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving. That morning, we went to my parent's house and went out to the Clay Pitts to go shooting. It was raining on our way there, but it cleared up and was great weather. The babies played in the back of the car with Grandma while everyone else took part in the shooting. Grandpa did, however, think Davis should learn how to shoot a BB Gun, so they borrowed Trey's and gave it a shot. After that, we went back to my parent's and visited with everyone until dinner. My grandparents were there, Sue, Josh and Janae, Breezy and Matt, and Brady and his family. It was so much fun to see everyone. We stayed late that night and hung out.

The next day, we went and got a Christmas tree. No big trip, just Home Depot in Centerville. It looks great though. I haven't taken a picture yet, but now it might not look so sweet anymore. I knocked it over this morning and was less than enthused to decorate it again. Also, some branches suffered some injuries. That night, we didn't have anything going on so we thought we'd go see the lights at Temple Square. The Erickson's met us on their way home from Mesquite. We had a great time even though there were tons of people because it was the first night for the lights.

Saturday morning, we made cinnamon rolls out the the dough I had raising on the counter to take to Spencer's mom's house. We didn't end up going because everyone at her house was sick. We loved the cinnamon rolls though. They were better than rolls at dinner anyway. I think our home and visiting teaching families enjoyed them too. That night, we met my parents and went to the Jazz game. We had great seats and great company. Overall, we had a super fun weekend.

I couldn't get a picture with all three of them in one, but Trey wanted to ride over to shooting with us and he was a great little helper distributing toys to the babies.

Fishing

I haven't posted about any fishing trips that Spence has been on, and I wanted these pictures on the blog so here they are. He never takes his camera so I had to get these from my dad. The top one is of Spence on the South Fork of the Snake River in Idaho. That was the second trip of the season and he went with my dad and took his brother Jared. The bottom three are from a day trip to Strawberry Reservoir. Spence and my dad went with my dad's buddy Dell Tuttle and had a great time even though Spence caught the smallest fish.

Family Vacation

For the last few days, we've been in Mesquite with Grandma and Grandpa Erickson. We had a great time. The babies were spoiled by two wonderful aunts that are so great to play with. Thanks Miranda and Kayla for being so great. They also loved all the time they had with Grandma and Grandpa to themselves. What lucky kids.

Blair had a rough trip. She was crabby almost the whole time we were there because she's getting her top middle two teeth. It's been pretty rough for her. Despite the fact that on normal days she'd always pick Dad over Mom, she wanted Mom at every second. If I wasn't around, she would cry like crazy. I think I had a headache for three days straight. She's doing better now though even though her teeth haven't gotten all the way through yet.

The first day we got there in the evening and the girls went to Twilight while Spence and Grandpa watched the kids.

The second day, the girls and the kids went shopping in St. George while Spence and Grandpa golfed. The kids were spoiled by Grandma of course.

The next day, we all went to Vegas. We went to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay. It was pretty cool. When she wasn't crying, Blair would point and say "fish". Her vocabulary is expanding every day. Davis was as good as gold and happy to check everything out. We walked around and checked a lot of different things out. We went to the M&M factory, watched the water show, and much more. We didn't take many pictures of the first few days because we were just trying to survive with a cranky baby.

The last day, we met Jared, Mandy, and their girls at Red Cliffs and went on a little hike. Blair was doing better and we had a blast. After that, we drove home with two worn out kids.

We had such a great time just hanging out and visiting with our family that we love. Thanks for the great time Grandma and Grandpa.

Davis loved the golf cart at the condo. He could have played there forever and he was super unhappy when Dad made him come inside. He was thrilled when Grandma took him for a drive.

Random New Pictures

These are just some pictures I've taken of the kids lately. Nothing special, I just want them saved here. Tonight we tried on their new snow clothes. We're all set for the cold weather.

One Year!

Last Friday, the babies went to the doctor for their one year check up. Here are their stats:

Davis
Weight: 20lbs 8oz, 20th percentile
Length: 30in, 55th percentile
Head Circumference: 19 1/4in, 90th percentile

Blair
Weight: 21lbs 2oz, 50th percentile
Length: 31in, 95th percentile
Head Circumference: 18 3/4in, 95th percentile
Here are a few more things about them at this age:
  • Davis gives kisses when asked and gives Mom kisses when she gets him out of bed
  • Blair gives hugs to Dad, Mom, Davis, and her baby
  • Davis hates Blair's hugs and bites in return
  • Blair loves to lay down on her tummy when playing with toys - She looks so grown up like this
  • Davis' new favorite toy is the Lightning McQueen ride on toy they got for their birthday - He is doing something with it non-stop
  • Both babies wave when asked and love meeting other kids at the store or anywhere else they can be found
  • Blair walks all over the place now - She now does it without being persuaded, but she does crawl sometimes still
  • Davis finally took a couple of steps the other day but has only been persuaded to do it again two more times - He can stand a lot longer now
  • Both babies will put their hands over their ears when you say "Ahhhhhhh" - So funny, this is what Mom feels like doing some days
  • Both babies love the bath - They go into the bathroom as fast as possible when they hear the water running and they are disappointed on the mornings we don't have time to play long, most days we spend about an hour there
  • Blair likes to blow bubbles in the tub - She lays on her tummy and sticks her face in the water
  • Both babies love to splash in the tub
  • Both babies love to fill the cups with bath water and drink from them - Gross!
  • Mom or Dad pouring water out of a cup from high above the bath is a favorite
  • Davis dances whenever he hears music and always looks to make sure you see him dancing - We do this a lot around our house - Mom likes it too
  • Blair is done having a binky - We were worried about church but she's been great!
  • Davis loves to be chased- he crawls away so fast and stops only when he needs a rest from crawling and laughing so hard
  • Blair loves to take her shoes off - Whenever we're in the car she gets them off so we have to put them on again when we get where we're going
  • Both babies go up and down the stairs like champs - In the afternoon we still use the gate to keep them on the same level
  • Blair is Mom's shadow - Wherever Mom goes, Blair goes; whatever Mom does, Blair does
  • Davis usually likes to play by himself - Maybe this is because otherwise Blair is attacking
  • Blair's eyes light up when she hears her Dad - Each night when Dad gets home she gets to him as fast as possible and gives him big hugs
  • Davis sucks on his blanket when he's going to sleep - He started doing this when we all got sick and he hasn't stopped
  • Blair loves her blanket and would love to be able to have it with her non-stop - She only gets it a bed time and on long car trips
  • Davis takes his pants off in his bed all the time- Why? Nobody knows.
  • Blair is starting to imitate many words that we say - Fish (for Grandpa Davis), Hi, Look, Yes- They're not 100% clear and she doesn't say them unless persuaded so I wouldn't count them as part of her vocab yet
  • Both babies say Dada and Mama- They do Dada better, but they get more practice with that one- Dad is always working on this
  • Davis likes to close all doors- He's happy unless he knows he shut Mom or Dad on the other side and then he wants it open
  • Blair can squat and stand back up without holding on to anything now
  • Both babies drink from sippy cups full time now- They've been doing this for a few weeks since Blair decided she would have nothing else
  • Both babies love books - They are some of the best toys we have and we love to listen to them read them
