Trout & Berry Days

A couple of weeks ago was Trout & Berry Days in Paradise. We drove up to spend the day with Grandma & Grandpa Erickson, aunts and uncles, and cousins. The kids had a great time on the toys, but weren't sure what to think about the trout scramble. Both kids ended up with a fish, but Davis was ticked about Spence putting him in the water. Grandma Erickson won a gift certificate for a night at the Anniversary Inn in the "Mothers of Paradise" trout scramble. After Trout & Berry Days, we had a fun afternoon at the Roundy's pond. Thanks for the great day Grandma!

Camping

We went camping at Vernon Reservoir with Erin and Riki Graybill earlier this month. Spence was super excited to show the kids all the fun to be had fishing, so he stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse and got them each a pole and all the gear needed.

It rained most of the day Friday, but we went anyway and we were glad because it cleared up. After dinner they gave fishing a try, but it didn't go so well. We tried again in the morning, but it was so windy that casting was almost impossible and the lines got blown to the shore right after they were casted. I think Spence decided he'd break out the poles again next summer. Maybe they just need to be a little bit older. Davis was more into the rocks around and Blair just wanted to sit in her princess chair.

We had a great time with the Graybills though as always and can't wait to go with them again.

New Pictures

I haven't updated pictures of the kids for a while, so while Spence and my dad were fishing in Idaho, my mom and I took the kids to Union Station and got some new pictures. I can't pick just a few. I love them all. I think they both look way too big to be my kids..

Fun in the Sun!

We went to seven Peaks with Paul and Ashley Giddings and their kids. It was so much fun. We had a great time visiting Paul and Ashley and our kids loved every minute of it. They loved the kid slides and didn't want any help when they went down and they didn't want us to stand at the bottom to catch them. They're getting so independent. They liked the wave pool too, but for sure their favorite part was the big slides. They were super into them and not scared at all and we went down them over and over. It was a great day that we'll do again soon.

Seven Peaks

We went to Seven Peaks with our friends Paul and Ashley Giddings and their kids Brooklynn and Maylee yesterday. I thought the kids would like it, but I had NO IDEA how much. They were in heaven. They loved to go down the kid slides by themselves and Blair didn't want anyone at the bottom to catch her - she was too big for that. They also loved all of the big slides. They wanted to go non-stop and they were thoroughly worn out at the end of the day. We need to make the trip there at least once each summer.

Sleepers

Spence and Blair are the exact same when it comes to sleeping. If you have to wake either one up in the morning, they'll moan and pull the blanket over their head. They both like to sleep in longer than me and Davis and they both often stay up later than they should. Last Sunday morning, Blair had made her way to our bed just before I got up to take a shower. While getting ready, I made a noise that made both Blair and Spence roll over and I couldn't stop laughing when they ended up in the exact same position. I love my two cute sleepyheads.

The End of a Long Day...

Instead of nap time today, we spent the afternoon shopping and playing in the Gateway fountain. This is what Davis looked like two seconds into the drive home.

I'll be back soon...

I didn't wake up at 5am to go to the gym today. When I finally got up at 7:30am Spence, started laughing and asked what was wrong with me last night. What??!! He said he came home last night and I was on the couch- not just sleeping, practically passed out (No wonder my talk for Sunday didn't really progress). After that, I did a number of crazy things and didn't even move when the alarm went off today.

I may have been dead last night, but I feel great right now. We've been so busy with moving, finishing our basement, other house projects, and working that nothing else is happening. One of my clients is getting a financial statement audit and I have a never-ending list of questions to answer and schedules to produce. I've been working during naps, sometimes during playtime, and when the kids go to bed at night and sometimes it's pretty late making 5am really early.

My parents have the kids right now so they can have fun and I can catch up a some work and later we're going to the Lehi stock parade and rodeo. Thank heaven for helpful parents or I would never make it. I just made a promise to myself and let Spence know that I would not be accepting new clients for a while (aside from one I've already talked to). I have the hardest time saying "No" to new clients, but it's going to make me, my cute kids, and my fabulous husband crazy if I don't.

I've got "Update the blog" on my list of things to do soon, so get ready for post overload.

A Crazy Trip to Lake Mead

We went to Lake Mead the first week of June and it wasn't the kind of trip we are used to having. We drove down Sunday night and Brady and Em were going to fly down on Monday.

Sunday, when we got to Mesquite, we went to the Buffet for dinner and Grandma got major food poisoning. She was up all night super sick and dizzy. One time she got up and was so dizzy that she fell and bashed her face into the counter in the bathroom. She wasn't doing well at all. We were all up from 2am and on. At around 5:30 or 6am, Spence and Grandpa took Grandma to the hospital emergency room. She was admitted and they took so long to stabilize her from the food poisoning that they didn't even stitch up her face until around 1pm. Monday, Spence hung out with the kids while I stayed with my Mom so my Dad could shower and get ready for the day. That afternoon Spence and I took the kids swimming and went to Shrek 3. Needless to say, we called Brady and Em and told them not to come. That night, they kept Grandma at the hospital and said they expected her to stay for another day or two.

Tuesday morning Spence and the kids and I went to Zions for the day. The kids were actually pretty good on all the little walks we did. We rode the bus and got off and did a short hike at each spot. Davis and Blair loved the bus. We had a good day hanging out just the four of us. That night, they ended up letting Grandma leave the hospital.

Wednesday morning, we went to the Lake. We didn't camp as planned and we had a pretty mellow day, but the kids had a blast and the water was awesome as always.

Thursday we spent another day at the lake. Spence and I decided to camp over with the kids since we had all of our stuff and we thought it would be fun for the kids. That was totally wrong. It was super hot and it never cooled off in the night. Also, when we put the kids to bed, they wouldn't settle down and they ended up filling the tent and Blair's eyes with sand.

Friday morning, Grandpa came to get us and we boated for a little bit while Grandma rested at the hotel. We did a little two much for her the past two days.

The trip was a little more eventful than expected, but we still had a good time. Hopefully Brady and family can come next time.
