Day 11

Blair had a good night last night. She maintained a high oxygen saturation with her peep at 12 and she slept great. Yesterday evening she was pretty awake and she watched cartoons off and on for a couple of minutes before dozing off. We also read a couple of books that our ward sent over and she held one side while I held the other and she would point at the pictures. It was great to see her a little more awake and be able to interact with her. She would also respond to our questions by nodding or shaking her head. She reached for some of the stuffed animals people have sent and held on tight to a couple of them. I can't wait until the tube is out and she can talk again.

This morning, when the doctors came for rounds, they decided to wean her peep by 2 again, so she's down to a 10 now. It's only been about an hour, but she's got a 99 percent oxygen saturation level (higher than she's ever had) with her peep of 10 and 40 percent oxygen being pumped into her. That's awesome. The plan is to wean her peep down 1 every 12 hours if she'll tolerate it. Wish us luck.

She's a pretty sweaty munchkin this morning. I don't know why, but she gets this way every once in a while. She still really wants her blanket though.

Here are a couple of her x-rays. The one on the left is from today and the one on the right is from a few days ago. Cloudy gray stuff is what we need to get out of her lungs- the more black the better. Her x-ray is so much better today.

We're so happy that things are heading in a positive direction. We are stuck to your blog like glue watching for updates. It was also nice to see that you had time to spend with Davis. We bet he is missing Blair so much. We're thinking of you all.

WOW! just came upon your blog today and you are now constantly in our thoughts and prayers. I cannot imagine how you feel, it is just heart wrenching to see cute little Blair intubated and sedated. Good to see that today is looking up. I hope that continues. We will keep on praying for all of you. -Sarah Gardiner
